“Everything will be alright in the end. If it’s not alright, it’s not the end.” -Anonymous

ABOUT ME

I came across the above quote when I first started working in Mental Health in 2007, and I really liked it because I believe that everyone can heal. Some issues are smallish, others are bigger – sometimes too big for us to work out alone. We are social creatures after all, so I believe that all of us need help from another at some point.

My philosophy is a holistic one: looking at the individual as a whole and unique person, rather than a “one size fits all” or “garden variety” approach to counselling. I therefore incorporate various therapeutic methodologies, depending on what is most appropriate for that person at that time.

BACKGROUND

I am primarily trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Hypnotherapy; but I also employ Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness techniques when working with people.

I worked as a Registered Counsellor at a psychiatric clinic in Cape Town, and also managed their Secondary Treatment Facility for some time. I have been in private practice since 2015, offering counselling to individuals, families and groups. I also do online and in-person talks for various companies and schools around the topic of Mental Wellbeing.
